Leslie Carvalho is a recent graduate of the Josef Korbel School of Global and Public Affairs at the University of Denver, where she earned a Master of Arts in International Security with a specialization in Peace and Conflict. She also holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Social Transformation Studies from Kansas State University, where her studies shaped her interest in the connection between systems and the lived experiences of individuals and communities. Her work focuses on human rights, gender-based violence, conflict prevention, and policy. Leslie has gained professional experience through roles with the Stimson Center, the International Rescue Committee, the University of Denver’s SHAPE Lab, and the Wichita Area Sexual Assault Center, where she has worked on research and programs related to security, humanitarian response, and survivor support. She is passionate about examining how policy decisions impact people’s everyday lives and making complex global issues more accessible. Through her writing, Leslie hopes to highlight the human impact of policy decisions and contribute to conversations about building a more just and equitable world.
